For children currently enrolled in a Speech School program.

Social Scientists social skills group helps children develop and grow their social and emotional skills.

Social Scientists will work with Jenna Buthman M.S., NCC, LAPC in a group setting where they will experience whole body listening; learn to take on alternative points of view; cooperate, share, listen actively, and establish and respect personal space; exercise patience, empathy, and emotional regulation; develop toolbox skills to manage anxiety and anger; improve organizational skills, and learn both how to compromise and how to follow step-by step instructions.

About Social Scientists

Children gather as small groups (maximum of six students). In their group, they will develop their powers of observation and learn to use clues from their surroundings as they are guided to build social and emotional skills through activities using books, one on one guidance, arts and crafts, and organized play. Groups are divided into Threes, Pre-K and Kindergarten.

Groups will meet once a week for 50 minutes, on a semester schedule for 7-8 sessions (depending on age). One facilitator will lead each group, meeting in a private room to maintain confidentiality. The facilitator will send weekly emails to parents which will share the week's activities, session goals, language used and ways to continue support at home. Parents will have the opportunity to speak with the facilitator(s) face to face or via zoom at the beginning and throughout each semester. At the semester's conclusion, facilitators will email semester reports to parents detailing their child(ren)'s progress and next steps.
